ALBRIGHTON & DISTRICT CIVIC SOCIETY (ADCS)

(Albrighton, Boningale, Donington-with-Boscobel and Tong)

Report of the Public Meeting and Annual General Meeting held on 12th October
The meeting was held by Zoom and the committee was pleased to see a few residents attend and participate. Whilst we did not have the usual near 200 in attendance nevertheless the discussions were useful.
The Chairman reported that due to the Covid restrictions we had not been able to carry out many of our usual activities. However we did organise a major response to Shropshire Council’s Plan for the County up to 2038 – this entailed mainly matters of housing and employment needs and also infrastructure.
It was decided that the holders of the School Awards (Cup and Shield) and the Bulmer Cup of the Flower Competition should hold them until the start of the competitions which we hope we can run next year.

A main issue we have had to face these last six months has been the lack of opportunity for the Society to renew membership subscriptions and the recruitment of new members. Our main event to do this is at Fayre Day but the Fayre could not be held. We also gather many subscriptions at the AGM in October at the Red House but we couldn’t collect subscriptions at a Zoom on-line event!.

Everyone’s current membership ran out at the end of September so we really do need your help to get back the substantial membership numbers we are privileged to have.

So we are asking our loyal supporters if you will send in your subscriptions and for any new members to join us by paying the annual sum of £1 or £2 for a family membership

Apart from the subscription which helps to fund our activities, the response of the councils and authorities with whom we engage is influenced if we have a significantly large membership which demonstrates good community support. So even if you can’t volunteer for any of our projects please join to boost our membership numbers.

We invite all to join the Society or to renew their membership.   It helps us to continue our work.............
......to improve the appearance of our villages and the quality of life within them.

Annual subscription is only £1 for a single membership or £2 for the family which will be valid until end September 2021.

Please tear off the slip below and send your subscription/donation to

31/32 High St         or        56 Station Road
